Poor quality fabricIt's a fine hat for this hot, hot summer. The quality is decent and the fit is right, for me. Comes in 8 diff colors; I chose a light tan. The fabric does not heat up, keeping my head cool. I like that it's quick dry, making it a good item to bring on trips. I don't usually look good in caps, but I don't mind this hat, actually!This is my second hat from this brand. I also have one with a narrower brim, that I like as well. But I wanted something that would provide a bit more shade, too -- so I chose this hat with a medium-width brim. I wear hats all of the time, so I like to have a variety to choose from, and I do like some of the features this one has, especially considering the very modest price. There are other features that I wish it did have.... I wear a size 6 3/4 in hats (size S) and sometimes have a hard time finding one that fits snugly enough. Some hats have a ribbon inside of the sweatband to adjust the size, or a strap with a buck on the outside, but this medium sized hat has neither. There is a sturdy chin strap that is threaded through holes on each side of the hat, allowing it to run along the back where the brim and crown meet, but this only helps a little bit with fit. So this hat fits loosely unless I snug up the chin strap, which I would only want to do on a breezy day or if I was out on the water. I am not complaining about this as the product description clearly states that the hat is designed to fit a head circumference of 22" to 23.2" and I am a little bit smaller than that. I just wanted to mention this might affect some chin case it might affect potential customers and also because I'd like to point out that some other hats from this brand are adjustable. I do like how light-weight the fabric is and the double layered crown has holes (two on each side) and a mesh interior for ventilation which is nice. The brim is thicker and feels sturdy but still light-weight; it is wired so the shape can be adjusted.as desired The sweatband inside is also sturdy as is the non-detachable chin strap; the strap has a double unit cord lock to adjust the length and keep it there. This is intermediate between a narrow brimmed hat and a large, floppy sun hat. The fabric is polyester and the hat seems to be well constructed. There is no SPF rating (my other hat from this brand has an SPF of 50), and the crown is quite thin and light-weight ( (I can see through it if I hold it up to the light) so I would say that this hat is suitable for occasional or light-duty use and probably isn't the best choice for someone who is a real outdoorsman/woman or someone who is out in the sun for hours every day. Of course, it is nowhere near equal in quality of material or workmanship to some of the expensive, name-brand hats I have, but I think it is worth the current price of $12.99 + I wouldn't end up being heartbroken if it happened to get lost (my granddaughter lost one of my favorite $$$ hats last year on a ride at a theme park last year, and I still haven't forgiven her). I'm pleased with this hat and I would recommend it for casual wear. I think it is a good value for the price and so is worth four stars...
